2024 COMMUNITY CHALLENGE

Crayons to Calculators — August 5-19, 2024

SPONSORS

EQUIPPED TO LEARN, EMPOWERED TO THRIVE

We work all year to provide opportunities for BVSD students, but an important first step is ensuring every student starts the school year with the supplies they need for a strong and successful academic year.

WHY SCHOOL SUPPLIES ARE SO IMPORTANT

When families face difficult financial decisions or tradeoffs, such as buying groceries or school supplies, it can impact a student’s success in the classroom and in life. Ensuring every student has access to school supplies creates equitable classrooms across all grade-levels.

Our annual school supply distribution, Crayons to Calculators, provides age-appropriate school supplies, headphones, and a new backpack to over 5,000 students facing financial hardship in the Boulder Valley School District.

Grant helps rebuild school library after unprecedented challenges

During the pandemic, the Monarch High School library sat unused. Books sat dusty and uncatalogued and, perhaps more importantly, went out of date. Things got worse when the Marshall Fire struck—the Monarch community was disproportionally affected, and many books that students checked out were lost in the fire.
